A 14-herb skin cream for dry, inflamed, itchy, or reactive skin.

Description

A handcrafted cream built on organic grapeseed oil and beeswax, infused with a Chinese herbal formula for skin that's irritated, broken out, or won't calm down with what you're already using.

What it does

  • Soothes dry, irritated, and reactive skin
  • Helps calm the redness and itch of eczema and dermatitis
  • Supports recovery from minor burns, scrapes, and insect bites
  • Helps quiet inflamed, painful acne without stripping the skin
  • Adds nourishing moisture without a greasy finish

Use it for

  • Daily moisture for dry or sensitive skin
  • Eczema and dermatitis flares
  • Acne, especially the deep, inflamed kind
  • Minor burns (after the area has cooled and is no longer raw)
  • Insect bites, minor cuts, and scrapes
  • Skin that reacts to other moisturizers

How to use

Apply a small amount to clean, dry skin as often as needed. A little goes a long way. For acne or eczema flares, apply 2-3 times daily to affected areas.

About the herbs

The Chinese herbal logic here is "cool heat, dispel wind, nourish the blood." That's TCM language for skin that's inflamed, itchy, and undernourished. Zi Cao, Huang Qin, and Lian Qiao do the cooling. Bai Xian Pi and Ku Shen handle the itch. Dang Gui, Bai Shao, and Huang Qi feed the skin from within the formula. Gan Cao (licorice) ties it together with a calming effect on irritated tissue.

Full ingredients

Organic grapeseed oil, beeswax, Dang Gui (Chinese angelica root), Zi Cao (gromwell root), Bai Shao (white peony root), Bai Xian Pi (dictamnus root bark), Bai Zhi (Chinese angelica), Gan Cao (licorice root), Huang Qi (astragalus root), Huang Qin (Chinese skullcap), Ku Shen (Sophora flavescens root), Lian Qiao (forsythia fruit), Qing Pi (green tangerine peel), Zhi Shi (immature bitter orange), Ju Hua (chrysanthemum flower).

Cautions

  • External use only.
  • Patch test on a small area before first use, especially if you have known allergies.
  • Avoid if you have a bee allergy (contains beeswax).
  • Avoid contact with eyes.
  • If you're pregnant or nursing, consult your acupuncturist or physician before regular use. A few of these herbs (Dang Gui in particular) are traditionally cautioned in pregnancy.
  • Discontinue if irritation develops or worsens.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this with my regular skincare? In what order?

Yes. Apply to clean skin after any water-based serums, before facial oils or heavy occlusives. For an active flare (eczema, dermatitis, breakout), use it solo at first to see how your skin responds before layering anything else over it.

How long until I see results?

For dryness and irritation, often within a day or two. For eczema or dermatitis flares, expect 5-10 days of consistent twice-daily use to see meaningful change. For acne, give it 2-3 weeks. Skin turnover takes time.

What's the shelf life and how should I store it?

12 months from opening if stored in a cool, dark place. The grapeseed oil base is more stable than coconut or olive, but heat and direct sun shorten shelf life. Don't keep it in a bathroom that gets steamy and hot from showers.

Does it clog pores?

Unlikely. Grapeseed oil is non-comedogenic (rating of 1 on the 0-5 scale) and the herbal infusion is water-stable. If your skin is highly congestion-prone, patch test on your jawline for a few days before using daily on your face.

Is the beeswax a problem for vegan customers?

Yes, this is not a vegan product. Beeswax is part of the cream's structure. If you're vegan, this isn't the right product for you.
