FEI ZI SHUI - Pure & Clear Gel / Blemish Rescue

Also known as: Fei Zi Shui, Pure & Clear Gel, Spot Treatment Gel, Blemish Rescue.

A daytime gel for oily and combination skin. Tea tree oil plus a botanical acid blend drawn from bilberry, sugar cane, orange, lemon and sugar maple, which is where the alpha hydroxy acids come from without a synthetic glycolic on the label.

It goes on in the morning. Dian Dao Shui Gao is the night half of the pair.

What's doing the work

• Tea tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) sits first on the ingredient list after water. A 5% tea tree gel outperformed placebo on lesion counts in mild to moderate acne in a randomised double-blind trial (Enshaieh S et al, Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology 2007;73(1):22-25). Dermatology M does not publish the concentration in this gel, so treat that as context rather than a claim about this bottle.
• Bilberry, sugar cane, sugar maple, orange and lemon extracts, the standard botanical AHA complex, for surface texture and clogged pores.
• Panthenol and aloe to keep the acids from leaving skin tight.

How to use

Apply 3 to 5 times a day to clean skin. Wear sunscreen, since acids increase sun sensitivity. Patch test first.
