Also known as: Yu Xing Gao, H Ointment, Houttuynia Ointment.
A drying, astringent ointment built on Houttuynia cordata, with alum and gypsum doing the mineral work and a little menthol for the cooling hit.
Thin layer only. This one is meant to dry the surface, not moisturise it.
What's doing the work
- Yu Xing Cao (Houttuynia cordata) is the namesake. Clears heat and resolves toxin, and it is the classical herb for hot, damp, angry skin.
- Huang Lian (Coptis chinensis) and Huang Bai (Phellodendron amurense), two of the three yellows.
- Ming Fan (potassium alum) and Shi Gao (calcium sulfate) for the astringent, drying finish.
- Qing Dai as Polygonum tinctorium leaf and stem extract, with Jiang Huang (turmeric).
- Bing Pian (borneol) and menthol carry it in and give the cooling sensation.
How to use
Apply 3 to 5 times a day.
Pairs well with
Follow with Zi Cao Shui Gao once absorbed if the skin gets too dry.
