Also known as: Shi Zhen Dan Pi Gao, Soothing Peony Cream.
Ten ingredients. The Shi Zhen Gao base with tree peony added, which is what the Dan Pi in the name means.
Paeonol is the isolated active from Mu Dan Pi rather than the whole root, so it sits high in the list and does its work without adding bulk.
What's doing the work
- Paeonol, the principal active of Mu Dan Pi (tree peony root bark). Cools blood, which is the whole reason to pick this over the plain Shi Zhen Gao.
- Huang Bai (Phellodendron amurense) and Qing Dai as Polygonum tinctorium leaf and stem extract.
- Shi Gao (calcium sulfate) and zinc oxide for the dry, matte finish.
- Jojoba, shea and beeswax hold it together, with nothing else in it.
How to use
Apply 3 to 5 times a day.
Pairs well with
Once absorbed, follow with Zi Cao Dan Pi Shui Gao to moisten. That is the matching cream with the same peony addition.
