Also known as: She Chuang Zi Ding, Calming Tincture.

Six ingredients, and three of them are the classical anti-itch group. Menthol on the end for the immediate cold.

This is what I reach for when the itch is the whole problem and the skin underneath is dry rather than weeping.

What's doing the work

  • She Chuang Zi (Cnidium monnieri) is the namesake and the lead.
  • Ku Shen (Sophora flavescens), the workhorse topical antipruritic in Chinese dermatology.
  • Bai Bu (Stemona sessilifolia), the traditional partner to Ku Shen.
  • Menthol for the cooling hit while the herbs get in.

How to use

Use a finger or a cotton bud. Apply 3 to 5 times a day, or whenever the itch starts.

Pairs well with

It is ethanol based and will dry the skin, so follow with Zi Cao Shui Gao once absorbed.

  • May contain traces of nuts or seeds.
