SAN BAI SAN - Three Whites Powder

Also known as: San Bai San, Three Whites Powder.

A mineral soak, not a herb formula. Three salts in a sachet, dissolved in hot water for hands or feet.

Alum for astringency, sodium sulfate and borax for the rest. It dries a wet surface faster than anything you can spread on.

How to use

Empty one sachet into a bowl big enough to submerge hands or feet. Add boiling water and stir until dissolved. Hold the area over the steam first, which eases itching quickly. When the liquid has cooled enough to be comfortable, soak for 15 minutes. Discard after use. Once or twice a day.

Pairs well with

Follow with an emollient once the skin is dry. Zi Cao Shui Gao or Run Zu Shui Gao on hands and feet.

Good to know

• 15g sachets.
• Contains sodium borate (borax). Do not use on broken, blistered or abraded skin, where absorption is higher. Not for use in pregnancy, and keep it well away from children. Never swallow it.
• Use the steam step to take the edge off before soaking. Do not soak in water hot enough to scald.
• Discard the liquid after each use. Do not reuse it.
• May contain traces of nuts or seeds.
• Best used under the guidance of a qualified Chinese herbalist.
