MA CHI XIAN SHUI GAO - Soothing Cream

Also known as: Ma Chi Xian Shui Gao, Soothing Cream, Purslane Cream.

An oat and borage barrier cream led by purslane. Lighter than the Shi Zhen creams and gentler than anything with indigo in it.

This is the one for skin that is reactive rather than hot. It suits the face, including around the mouth where most things sting.

What's doing the work

• Ma Chi Xian (Portulaca oleracea, purslane) is the namesake, high on the list at position 7. It clears heat and resolves toxin, and it is the classical herb for angry, weepy skin.
• Ji Xue Cao (Centella asiatica, gotu kola) for surface repair.
• Oat kernel extract and borage seed oil, the latter supplying gamma-linolenic acid directly, which atopic skin converts poorly on its own.
• Zinc oxide, allantoin and panthenol for the drying and settling, with urea and bayberry wax holding the barrier.

How to use

Apply 2 to 5 times a day.
