HUANG LIAN GAO - Soothing Ointment 2

Also known as: Huang Lian Gao, Soothing Ointment 2, H-Ointment #2.

Twenty-four ingredients in a sesame and beeswax base. This is the most complex ointment in the range and the one with the longest herb list.

Coptis leads it. Where Shi Zhen Gao is the drying option, this one is the broader, more aromatic one.

What's doing the work

• Huang Lian (Coptis chinensis) is the namesake and the lead. It clears heat and dries damp.
• Ku Shen (Sophora flavescens) and Bai Xian Pi (Dictamnus dasycarpus), the classical anti-itch pair.
• Wu Bei Zi (Rhus semialata gall) brings the tannins and the astringency.
• Jing Jie (Schizonepeta), Fang Feng (Saposhnikovia) and Bai Zhi (Angelica dahurica) for the surface, with Lian Qiao (Forsythia) and Qing Dai.

How to use

Apply 3 to 5 times a day.

Pairs well with

An alternative to Shi Zhen Gao where that one proves too drying. Follow with Zi Cao Shui Gao if the skin needs moisture back.
