Also known as: Hua Jiao Ding, Calming Tincture, Sichuan Pepper Tincture.

Thirteen ingredients, alcohol based. Sichuan pepper leads it, and the faint numbing quality that pepper is known for is the reason it is there.

This is one of the more assertive tinctures in the range. It belongs in practitioner hands rather than on a bathroom shelf.

What's doing the work

  • Chuan Jiao (Zanthoxylum bungeanum, Sichuan pepper) is the namesake and the lead.
  • Xiang Fu (Cyperus rotundus) and Huang Qin (Scutellaria baicalensis).
  • Ya Dan Zi (Brucea amarissima) and Bing Lang (areca), both traditionally used for stubborn surface problems and both reasons this needs supervision.
  • Zi Cao (Arnebia euchroma), Dan Shen (Salvia miltiorrhiza) and Wu Mei (Prunus mume) alongside.

How to use

Apply as directed by your practitioner. Let it dry, then follow with an emollient, since alcohol will dry the skin.
