Collection: Sciatica Support

In Chinese medicine, the right herbal support depends on your pattern, not just the word "sciatica." Start by knowing whether yours leans cold-damp, blood stasis, or deficiency.

Cold-damp and achy, worse in wet weather? A warming formula is the traditional match.
Sharp and stuck in one spot? Topical and oral support focus on the local area.
Dry, nagging, worse when you're run-down? A Yin-nourishing formula fits.
Not sure, or it keeps coming back? Book a custom formula call and Doctor Stacee builds one for your exact pattern at www.bookstacee.com.

What sciatica actually is

Sciatica is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Pain radiating from the low back down the back of the leg means the sciatic nerve is irritated somewhere along its path. The where matters: a disc at L5-S1, a tight piriformis, or spinal narrowing all produce the same leg pain and want different treatment.

In Chinese medicine this territory belongs to the Bladder and Gallbladder channels. Which channel your pain follows down the leg is one of the most useful pieces of information you can bring to a practitioner, and it is easy to describe: back of the leg is Bladder, side of the leg is Gallbladder.

Why it keeps coming back

Recurrent sciatica in a depleted patient is usually a Kidney deficiency story underneath the acute irritation. Moving blood clears the flare. Tonifying the Kidney is what stops the cycle. Treating only the flare is why people have the same episode every spring for a decade.

If the pain stays in the back without radiating, the Low Back Pain collection is the better fit. If it settles in the hip and buttock, see Hip Pain.

Get assessed rather than self-treating if

You have progressive weakness in the leg or foot, numbness in the saddle area, any change in bladder or bowel control, or pain that followed significant trauma. Those need urgent examination.

Before you order

Evergreen formulas are dispensed after a consultation. Several move blood and interact with anticoagulants.
